Jacqui has been a fully registered Psychologist since 2009 practising both in NSW and QLD. Jacqui relocated to the Sunshine Coast in 2016 and has gained experience working with the local community as well as interstate clients via Telehealth.  Jacqui gained her Psychology Honours degree from Bond University and became a Registered Psychologist through the College of Professional Psychology. She then went on to obtain a Graduate Diploma from the Academy of Art and Play Therapy to learn clinical skills for applying art and play techniques in therapy with clients of all ages. Her experience is varied having worked for various government and not-for-profit family and community services, counselling services, and psychology clinics. She has worked with adults, children, adolescents, families, couples, and NDIS participants.  She also worked for several years at the Sunshine Coast Perinatal Centre and has experience working with clients from conception through to the first years of parenthood.

Treatment Approach

Jacqui is passionate about providing a range of evidence-based treatments to clients through a trauma and attachment-informed lens.  Rather than working on presenting issues she prefers to work deeply with clients to uncover the underlying patterns driving symptoms.  This has led Jacqui to become trained and qualified in Clinical Art & Play Therapy and an Accredited EMDR Therapy Practitioner.

Jacqui has also completed the Clinical Course with Therapy Dogs Australia and is a Therapy Dog team with her mini Groodle, Tilly.  Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) is an option for clients however as Tilly is not in the clinic every day this is completely the client’s choice to involve Tilly in sessions.  Animal Assisted Therapy has been shown through research to reduce stress and anxiety is sessions and facilitate a warm therapeutic environment.

Jacqui focuses on building a therapeutic relationship with clients using a warm and individually tailored approach.  She cares about getting to know her clients and approaching them with a curious, non-judgmental, and supportive manner.  She enjoys using creative approaches with clients to engage all areas of the brain and psyche.

Jacqui engages in regular professional development and consultation.  She is a firm believer in work/life balance and engages in regular self-care activities, mindfulness practice, and her own personal self-reflection.
